Tilley HD to build 117" Demo
« on: February 29, 2016, 09:41:53 AM »

Tilley Harley-Davidson of Salisbury, may build a 117" Motor (in a Street-Glide), for Demo purposes, to promote sales of the up-grade.   Give customers the experience of the modification, as opposed to debating with one's self, or pondering about it.  Talk a bout "danglin' a carrot!"  Marketing at its finest, in my view.  It's not a done deal, but has a lot of support from Tilley Staff.  8)  Later--HUBBARD

That's actually pretty smart; dyno charts look cool but a test ride where the bike tries to pull your arms out of your sockets would impress more people than a graph.  I know that would sell me, that is if it I could feel a real seat of the pants difference over stock.

No question that it will be a monster if they decide to build it....and I'll bet they have the correct torque plates in their shop.

Local dealer Installed two 117" bolt on kits on brand new show room bikes.
One was a CVO limited, other was a Fatboy "S".

Unfortunately, because BOTH bikes were showroom bikes, the Dyno results were simply a joke!
They had to keep stock exhaust and just did the map. No Turner of any type, cat still intact.

Mid 80ish on HP, can't remember the Torque numbers. But I remember that a stock 110" motor with TTS Mastertune Turner, Fullsac X-Pipe & Baffles would run circles on either of these rigs.

To be fear, with a TTS Turner and Fullsac set up, it would be a different game!

So true. I can't adequately describe the difference in the seat-of-the-pants feel between my 110 and the new 117 kit. I just told my son, yesterday, that you have to ride it to really appreciate the change.

Why did they have to keep stock exhaust?  EPA?

Yep!

Now if a new customer were to buy, they will make changes like any other new bike.

My bet is they already know and have in stock the exhaust, air cleaner, injectors and Dyno map they would swap out for the stock stuff when the bike is sold.
