Navi Extras
« on: March 29, 2016, 08:13:36 AM »

Has anyone out there actually used there GPS with Navi Extras maps?  I've been using it since 2014 when Harley changed over to the new GPS screens, I've used it in Florida, Tennessee, North and South Carolina. There are so many places where the GPS says that maps are incomplete!  Just Easter Sunday I went to points of interest on my GPS while I was on RT 40 Pennsylvania to look for a restaurant and tried to get the Waffle House. The map was terrible, I ended up in a church parking lot and it did not know the roads!!  This happens so much, I can't believe Harley or Harmin Karden has not put out a new map upgrade for us!!!  Is anyone out there disappointed as much as my friends and myself who have SE CVO Ultra's, Road Glides etc with these new GPS's?!?!?  I was with a guy who had a 16 SE Road Glide, a 2014 SE Ultra and I was on a 16 SE Ultra and we cannot believe that there is not an uproar from all the people that have this new GPS system! There is never a map upgrade for our GPS on Navi Extras!  The most recent upgrade is 2014 which I had on my 2014 SE Ultra, I've had two more bikes since then and both were SE Ultra's!  I'm curious to see if anyone else is as disappointed as we are?!!?

We got our 2015 ultra last September and used it on a ride to Seattle.
Going from a 15 yrs old garmen that never had map updated,  I thought that it worked great.
always was correct for exits and the way the signage was displayed made me feel like I just stepped out of the stone age.
I only have a little over 2200 miles on the bike do to putting it away for the winter in late October so I need to use the navigation system more for a better response,  but so far I'm happy.

No issues with my system. Find the target address every time.

Don't worry, the Garmin maps are just as bad. I use one in my work truck. Three year old roads still don't show up.

I have had no problems in a year and a half with my 15. Works great. I use it constantly as it helps with traffic/weather if you have a route programmed, even if it is a destination I can drive to blindfolded I still program the GPS just for the traffic and I can honestly say it has NEVER been wrong.

Am I right, the passenger is not able to hear Gloria ( navi ) when she tells me directions?
Or can I make an adjustment for the wife to hear it also?

I have no idea what you mean by Gloria? I am one of those who does not think names for mechanical things are quite, But no, the passenger can not hear the GPS prompts, passenger knows only that something interrupted the music.

Used mine twice to find HD dealerships. Both times it said it was on the wrong side of the street. You would think they would have plenty incentive to get dealerships correct. But I've yet to find a GPS that I fully trust.

It is a bit strange that Garmin updates their maps and software for the nuvi's quarterly, but there have been no updates for the Harley system maps since it was released back in 2013?

Btw, Garmin has gotten so good with the updates that they are now a full year ahead.  I just updated Momma's nuvi a couple weeks ago to map version 2017.10, so I guess that means she's good to go for another fifteen months or so.  ;)

Yup, love how Garmin can predict what the road system will be next summer.  Now, if my broker could only do that.....
