UPDATE MAY 11 2016 - I took the grip off and sprayed the pot for the fly by wire with electronic contact cleaner many times.
I worked the unit back and forth and when assembling I put a little dry graphite lube on the handle bar.
Its 90% and getting better ever ride.
Thanks for everyones help.

Does anyone have instructions on how to take apart or lube the throttle grip on my 2008 CVO Ultra Classic with fly by wire.
As I slowly turn the grip, it sticks here and there and isn't a smooth roll.
I started to take things apart slowly, but then got scared about whats inside the grip and breaking or causing new problems.
I guess a guy should by the 2008 Touring manual and also the CVO supplementary manual. - unless someone has them online? I have found a 2006 .pdf version.
Thanks for any help.
I uploaded a video to youtube, should be up in another 20 minutes, taking a while to upload.
Thanks
Trev

you can try loosening the clamshell and slightly pulling the assembly out away from the handlebar.  if the throttle grip is pushed on too far, it will bind. if you go too far, then the gears will not engage, so only 1/16'' or so should do it.

Try this first as skratch suggested. If it's still sticky, take the grip off and make sure there's no gunk built up in between it and the bars.

What they said. ^^

First try loosening the screws for the switch housing/clamp and move in or out slightly while rotating the grip and see if the sticking/binding improves.  If that makes no difference (and I'm guessing it won't based on how quickly the grip snapped back to the idle position when you let go of it in your video), then you can remove the grip, clean the bar and interior of the grip, and apply some graphite lubricant.  Reinstall the grip and see if that makes any difference.  And if none of those things fix the problem, it's quite likely the actual throttle grip sensor in the bar is bad.  It was pretty common on the early electronic throttle bikes.

Had a similiar problem on my 09 SERG. Never bothered me but I have a buddy who would twist it everytime he walked by and complain, finally he took it apart, removed the sensor and cleaned it, put in a little electric lube and I have to admit it was way better.
