Boom Stage 2 audio cutting out
« on: March 28, 2016, 04:08:55 PM »

I have been looking at threads here as well as a couple of other forums and I see where Harley sent some updates to fix issues with the stage 2 speakers cutting out, but I haven't seen for sure whether is is resolved.

I have a 2016 CVO street glide that I picked up in February.  When I start up the bike and take off, any song will play fine even at full volume.  Once I've ridden several miles, the audio will cut out partially (sounds like some of the speakers turn off, but I can still hear it).  This lasts for a few seconds and them comes back on full volume.  It only does this at when the volume is 3/4 or higher and seems to depend on the song being played.

If I lower the volume, it will usually stop.
The music is never distorting when this happens?  Is anyone still having problems with this, or have any solutions?

Hell, I have the same problem with the Stage I system on my 15 SERGU. I just keep forgetting to say something to the dealer about it.

I had that problem with one of the rear speakers on my 2012 CVO SG.  It was the rear amp going bad.

I have a 16 CVO Streetglide and have had a similiar problem. Front speakers just quit working. I did an update to the most recent update 19.2, no help. The fade adjustement was no where to be found. Finally took bike to dealer. Dealer was stumped. After spending alot of time with Harley support they wiped it clean and reloaded it. Everything works as supposed to now.

When you say wiped clean and reloaded did they just do a factory reset?

You might want to double check this just to make sure... get the navigation screen up and on the right side of the screen you should see a little square icon with around three lines in it. Touch it and a menu will come up. Select stop navigation. This is one of the first things that seems to get a lot of people complaining about the sound cutting out. Worth a few seconds to make sure anyway.

Good point. Also make sure the CB is turned off. I forgot about that. You may be picking up just enough signal to break the squelch. I need to check mine and see if that's part of the problem. ::)

Navigation is not active when this happens and the Street Glide does not have CB.
Also, this could be eliminated as a cause in my case because it only happens at high volume.

I may run the system reset to see if it works.  I also read on another forum that the AVC can cause it, so I will turn that off to see if there is any change.

I just wanted to bump this up and add that I thought it was just me... but I've been experiencing the same. Volume losses/surges particularly at high volume and speeds. I was wondering if it had something to do with the speed/volume software or something. Seems like it got worse after the last update. 2015 RGU.
