Standard Front Springs in a SEEG
« on: March 14, 2010, 04:41:18 AM »

Has anyone put standard (not lowered) front springs in a SEEG, to make it like stock set up on a FLHX, just taken a ride on a 06 streetglide and found the ride a hell of a lot better than on my SEEG, and was thinkin of changing the front springs, input anyone? :bananarock: :bananarock:

You would need to change the upper fork tube. They are shorter on the SEEG.

If you have the funds available, send the forks to HD-Dude or Traxxion Dynamics and have the AK-20 fork upgrade done at the SEEG lowered height.  Will handle and ride superbly-way better than the stock height on a FLHX..

I "raised" my '05 SEEG to stock height.  Went with Progressive Springs (std. length) and had to change the damping rods and rebound springs.  Not very expensive and easy to do.  Fork tubes are the same length (std. vs. SEEG).

Hi Chris, could you tell me how you found the ride after you went with the std length suspension, My local dealer has offered me a great deal on some std length legs with chrome sliders on the bottom, so it would just be a case of swapping the legs over at the same time i do the swinging arm bearings and bushes, AND made sure the whole thing is in line. :bananarock: :bananarock: :bananarock:

I also raised the back 1" also (Progressive 440 13" shocks).  I found the ride to be MUCH better.  I don't need the "lowered" ride as I am tall enough.  The SEEG stock (lowered) seemed to corner better but the overall ride was rough and it would bottom out.  Again, much better with the extra travel.  Double check (measure) the difference between the two fork legs to make sure you are getting what you need.  I'm running the Progressive Springs with Bel Ray 15 wt oil.
