Stock exhaust end cap removal?
« on: April 23, 2016, 05:45:05 PM »

I have pulled 3 screws that hold the end cap on and sprayed it pb blaster..
I can,t get it to move.
Does anyone have a way to get it of without doing damage?

Thanks,
Pete

I had to wiggle mine extensively to get them off, Pete. It was quite a show - trying to hold the can under my arm. If I were to do it again, I would leave the can attached to the bike and use it as leverage.

Good luck!

Got them off. It wasn't,t easy. First got it to budge by hitting it with a rubber mallet.
In the end , I resorted to the caveman approach. Hammer and screw driver. I got about 1/32 space with the mallet, then put the screwdriver in the space and hit it with a hammer. Worked from side to side till it came off. No damage to pipes and the end caps aren,t to bad. It doesn't,t really matter about the caps because the chrome was flaking off anyway. That's why I was replacing them.
Thanks for the response. It's nice to know it wasn't just me that had trouble getting them off.
