Dragula2 VS. Fat Cat - performance, sound, fit/finish
« on: June 19, 2016, 09:27:37 PM »

Doing this from my phone, so please ignor typos.

Ignoring price, how would you compare the 2 pipes for a mildly modified 110?

Dragula2 vs. Fatcat with perforated wrapped baffle.

I am assuming the D&D is louder, but a lot louder?

Are the similar sounding? Deeper? Crisper?

Everybody will have an opinion on this, but which one performs better?

What about fit and finish?

Last but not least, which would you personally choose?

Thanks for taking your time!! I wish I could try them both, I also wish I would win the lotto....

Performance? Likely equal or close enough.

Sound quality? There is a big difference. While I don't think either is that deep, if you are considering the D&D, definitely listen to a set in person, because to me, they have a completely different type of sound that I personally don't like.

My riding buddy from FLA that I do trips with had the original Dragula, and now the Dragula 2. When he passes me, they have a high cracky sound. But they do sound more Harley-like than the D&D.

The best 2-1 I've heard in person is the Bassani Road Rage. Deeper sound than the above 2.

YMMV of course.

Well you have 3 options on the D&D  louvered core ( very nice sound not too loud) perf baffle very loud gives up a touch of low end and the new Vortex baffle ( spiral louvered core) I have heard them never tuned..  Dragos has a spiral louvered core.. I think that the 2.5 baffle his or Rush pipe is a bit on the loud side.. I like the 2.25 baffle less noise a touch more bottom end and maybe give up 1-2 peak hp.

GMR,

Thanks for your reply, I know you have a ton of knowledge so I really like to hear what you have to say. The Dragula 2/1 says it come with the following 3 baffle options

Baffle choices are:
•2.55" Baffle 75 HP-145
•3.00" Baffle 125HP-220HP
•3.25" Baffle to come in future

Are you saying to run a 2.25 on a 2 into 1?

Thanks for your input!

Recently added the Dragula 2 to an 08 CVO Road King 113 incher.  Sound is awesome has a nice throaty rumble, gets progressively louder on acceleration but is not obnoxiously loud.  Fit and finish are first class, the chrome heat shields are polished to perfection.  The only down side is they need to supply slightly larger clamps to secure the heat shields.  They come with # 28's which are hard to get started.  I had a box of # 32's which were much easier to start.

All of my previous bikes had Screamin Eagle (Super-Trapp) 2 into 1's which had a different sound because of the diffusers versus baffles. I would definitely recommend the Dragula 2 and would buy again.  Don't be in a hurry once you order,  Dragos has so many orders to fill, but worth the wait.

My buddy just ordered a pipe from Frank, he said that Frank has shipment expected around the end of June for the Drago1's and Mid July for the Drago 2.  If you have interest you might call up there and verify.
