Difference between 60665-99 and 60665-99B
« on: July 10, 2016, 04:32:59 PM »

Well I finally noticed a small crack on the inside boss surrounding the 1/8 " NPT Drain Plug. My Parts number book shows a 60665-99
for my 2000 FXR4 CVO. It seems the more 8 tightened it the more it leaked. The tapered plug expanded the crack when tighened.  Does anyone know the difference between the two? Surdyke site said the B supercedes the the older. But doesn't state why they changed it.
Thanks

This is a Chromed Outer Primary.  Has 10 screw holes, a 5 screw derby cover and a separate chain inspection cover that has a Mid Shift Shaft that goes through the top section of the small cover. There was a small notch I put in middle cover to clearance the Vulcan Motorway Aluminum Shift Tube. That's not the leak.

The "B" would actually be the second supercession.  Original part would have had no letter suffix.  First came an "A" then the "B" you're seeing now.

Please don't take this as any more than a guess based on some vague memories.  Think I remember those covers losing the grease fitting over the shifter and changing from three hole to five hole derby covers.

There are no grease fittings on this cover. It looks like the same in the picture online. I guess I will email them. Hopefully something there could physically look at it and answer my question that is if they have it in stock and don't have to order it.
