Looking for a good tuner in NE Indiana
« on: September 23, 2016, 06:19:48 PM »

Like the title says, I'm looking for a good tuner in North East Indiana. I had the dealer , whom I won't mention mostly because they are a good dealer, change the pipes and install a HD race tuner when I purchased the bike. They tuned the bike on the dyno, though I'm not sure if they really knew what they were doing. The bike pops a lot on decel. Also any thoughts on changing tuners, maybe a fuel moto or power commander? :nixweiss:

I can vouch for Daren Sheffer. Excellent work and customer service. When I went in for my 1500 mile checkup, I wasn't able to have anyone follow me down so had to sit there in the shop. He explained what he was doing, gave me tips, and even treated me to lunch across the street. Not saying you'll get free lunch, but he'll treat ya right and have that bike running as good as it can get.

Daren and I will both tune with the HD race tuner, and either of us would suggest spending more money on getting something else to tune what you have.

How does the bike run?  If you are happy with everything else besides the decel popping. I would suggest first contacting the shop that did the tune, and give them a chance to address it.  It might be as simple as retorquing on the newly installed exhaust.

First thanks for all responses! Well actually I did take it back to the dealer and they said that they retuned it, but it was a little bit worse the second time, go figure. The bike runs really well and I am considering some engine upgrades in the near future so I've just been living with the popping. Thanks again!
