AUX input 16 CVO limited
« on: April 23, 2017, 10:19:10 AM »

Ok I am dumbfounded or maybe just dumb~! I bought the 69200907 kit to add the AUX input to my 16 CVO limited. I went to install it this morning and man am I confused!! There is a blank connector on the bike but the AUX kit does not fit it.

Basically to me it looks like all I need to do is remove the wires from the connector on the kit and install them into the existing CB connector on the bike, then throw the big connector end away that came with the kit.
Is that correct? Using the correct pin #'s of course.

Is it really that simple?

Chief ......check out the review comments at the MOCO website:
http://www.harley-davidson.com/store/35mm-auxiliary-input-kit
A few users are saying the instructions are incorrect ::):

"This product did perform as desired to support my iPOD plugin on my new 2016 Ultra Limited Low. However, the instructions that were provided in the package were wrong. Instructions direct installation into a plug it would not connect to. My local Harley Dealership acquired the correct instructions and completed the installation. Installation required a computer interface to setup the infotainment system to recognize the product. Works well, once installed";

"The instructions call for plugging the cable into the GRAY Molex - wrong. It plugs into the BLACK Molex. Once plugged into the correct connector, my Roadie XM works fine and only 10 minutes at the dealer to upload the AUX function"

I agree the grey connector the instructions point to does not fit the kit connector. The way I read the directions it appears that you take the wires out of the connector that came with the kit and put them into the CB connector. If that is the case not sure why you would need the big connector that comes with the kit at all? Maybe for bikes that do not have a CB?

ok got it installed, those molex connectors can be a bear! Wired power to the accessory thing and now to get to a dealer to have them reprogram!

I need to find that thread though with the instructions for the dealer

It's in the instructions now.

https://serviceinfo.harley-davidson.com/sip/service/document/113809

Also, here is the segment I posted elsewhere last fall.

Here is the part you will need.

http://www.harley-davidson.com/store/35mm-auxiliary-input-kit

In the instructions (they are under the "More Info" tab), please note step 6.  The dealer will need to set this up for you.  The setting mentioned is the only one they need to touch.

Personally, I used
  • 6.Have a Harley-Davidson dealer use the Digital Technician II service tool to update the "Audio Inputs" to the desired setting. "Audio Only" "Tone Detection Only" "Both Audio AND Tone Detection" This update is available without charge from any dealer. Dealer labor rates could apply for the update procedure.
This allows me to use my Garmin as a media source.
The tone detection is what allows the Boom! head unit stop playing media, and play navigation instructions.  The Road Tech zumo660/665/590 are the only units that transmit this tone to be recognized by the head unit.  IF you don't have one of these units, the tone interrupt will not function properly.

Don't bother, they won't remember to refer to them for future customer. LMAO
