Powerlocks on a 2015 CVO Streetglide??
« on: March 24, 2017, 10:40:02 AM »

Just wondering..Does anyone know why the CVO Streetglide doesn't have powerlocks? Particularly the 2015?! Also, What do I need for installing powerlocks on my CVO Streetglide?

Thanks In Advance!

The 2017's have them. It should be able to be adapted to the older Streetglides.

Last time I checked Harley doesn't offer a kit to retrofit the power lock system to other bikes.  I imagine if someone wanted to add the production system from a 2017 CVO that is equipped with power locks to a 2015 that isn't, he could order all the parts and try to add them.  The part price would probably be in the low to mid four figure range, and I have no idea how much labor would be involved but I assume it would be significant.  I'm guessing it might be less expensive and less likely to create problems if you just traded the 2015 on a 2017 if you really want power locks.

I saw a kit the other day, can't remember what site. It was 14+ and around 700 bucks. Did a quick search didn't find it.

I got to say though I really like it on my 17 but it's not $700 worth of like.

The power fork lock alone is about $625 from Harley, and that doesn't include the $170 key and fob or the saddlebag lock mechanisms or or the $350 BCM or the wiring or any other the other electrical relays and miscellaneous bits.  If the aftermarket can come up with a well designed and well built system for $700, they probably will find a market for it.  After all, plenty of Harley riders blow more than that on bling that has no functional value at all.  It's not worth it to someone like me; I'm old enough to remember how to use an old fashioned key to lock my forks and bags, and also old enough to not be in such a big hurry that I think I need central locking on a motorcycle.

I thought about buying two Saddlebag Lock Actuators from Harley and then wiring them up to a cheap Remote Starter kit (Just for the Locks obviously not for the remote start...)
Something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Avital-4103LX-Remote-System-4-Button/dp/B00BYESXBE/ref=sr_1_4?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1490444597&sr=1-4&keywords=remote%2Bstart&th=1

Saddlebag Lock Actuator LT    69201579   $144.96
Saddlebag Lock Actuator RT   69201578    $144.96
Cheap Remote Kit from Amazon    $33.95

I think you could pull off something like that relatively inexpensively...    $325.00 ish   Maybe less if you get the Actuators at a discount.
I would think that all you would need is maybe 2 empty cavities to each saddlebag to wire Lock and Unlock functions...

Thanks All for your opinions. I'll just live with what I have now, and if I ever do trade the bike in for a newer CVO model, I'll just make sure it has power locks ;D. Now I'm looking to do an Air Ride system  8)
