Had to replace my windshield
« on: March 16, 2007, 04:12:37 PM »

The guys from the glass company just left. My 2003 Black and Silver H-D F-150 Supercharged Supercrew needed a new windshield. It's taken a month to get one that was acceptable to install. The first three to be delivered had scratches in them. Now here's the reason I posted this. To begin, H-D would not allow the company that mfgrs windshields beyond the current model year to make this. Only the original Ford Licensee is allowed. So that caused problems. Then, since Ford changed body styles in 2004 on the F-150, this windshield is out of production so to speak. And lastly because it's got a special Ford/Harley Davidison 100th Anniversary Logo in the middle ( in addition to the little bar and shields in the sunscreen areas) it was a real pain to get. Now the best part. A normal Ford F-150 costs about $200 installed. Cost of my 100th Anniversary model ?  $624.  Ya gotta love it

And I just about bought one a month or two ago. Glad I didn't now. I can just imagine what those HD tires would cost!   :D

Mine are 20" Goodyear Eagles  Not too bad at $1,000 a set plus local taxes and road hazard warranty. The new ones are 22" Pirelli's  I'll bet they cost close to $2k a set.

Big B, they aren't as bad as you'd think.  My SRT-10 has 305/40ZR22 Pirelli Scorpion's.  You can get them at www.tirerack.com for under $200 all day long.  Sometimes they even run sales on them.  I've seen them as low as $165/pc.

That sux about your windshield.  Hopefully, your insurance company didn't balk at the higher cost.
