The issue with the coolant pump on the Harley as opposed to a car/truck is that the Harley pump is electric and uses a magnetic drive impeller like a small submersible pond or fountain pump. It is not a direct driven pump like in a car. Because of this, it is more susceptible to issues due to "gumming" or debris. A mechanical pump in a car/truck can overcome the resistance of the "gumming" because it is being directly driven by the engine, but an electric magnetic drive pump cannot, and will stop at some point if it gets gummed up.
So while your DEXCOOL may be fine for your Cadillac or your Buick, it isn't the best thing for the Harley cooling system. Like anything else, do some research, and run whatever makes you sleep better at night.
