Alternatively, has anyone actually ever had the problems described in the ad with the "old" releases?

The H-D ones on LD need replacing after only 3,000 miles. They stick open or shut 1/2 the time. Shut's not too bad, but having one stick open is enough to put a knot in you knickers any day. I'll be looking to buy a couple of these for sure

FWIW, my builder swears by the current S&S ACRs.

Never had any issues with the blue ones.

Actually favor the blue one over the all metal one because the all metal ones are hot as hell.

Have the all metal ones on the 120 and have almost burned the finger tips a few times.

OUCH, give me the plastic cover anyday.

And there you have, , , the rest of my story!

Am I correct in saying that the S&S ACR will only work with S&S heads.

That's what I've said bad words about on motors past also Chip.  All metal CRs make for toasted finger tips.  At least the platic parts you can touch enough to use them if you have to.

I can't speak for all heads but they are in my H-D heads, installed as part of the build in progress.

Most heads are drilled for a 10mm x 1.0 pitch. Some have a 14mm threads drilled.

I would love to see the S & S ACR's installed into a Harley head. I did not think there was enough meat in the head to allow for the depth needed for S & S's ACR.

I guess whoever is working the Harley head is welding some more meat into the head for them.  Still would like to see the pictures of the heads....every angle after they are installed. Twolane, my heads are off both bikes right now. If this can be done :2vrolijk_21:

Don't need them, don't want them.  My 120 starts easier than when it was a stock 103.
