Thinking about this mount through the windshield on the Road King.
Did this on my '08 SEUC with a short KlockWerks Flare w/s, using the '12 Convertible hardware.  At first, my crotch had a perfect view of the GPS--Worked pretty well after I added a swivel mount to elevate the downward angle of the dangle.  That shouldn't be a problem on the RK w/s.

I'm wondering how it might fit on an '09 SERG?
The problem might be the angle of the w/s on RGs; I had to use a swivel mount on the SEUC, and even that was barely enough to get the GPS level.  You can (barely) see on this pic how the through-windshield portion is angled b/c of the curvature of the w/s.

Like you mention I'm far less concerned about fabbing it up on the road king and have four more curiosity about if it will work or what it will take to make it work on the Road Glide. Good to see that someone else has already played with the idea some. What swivel did you use? I'm looking forward to all the parts getting here hopefully end of next week so can begin to play with it some.

Used two of these ball mounts, one on each end: RAM 2" x 1.7" Base with 1" Ball that Contains the Universal AMPs Hole Pattern for the Garmin zumo, TomTom Rider & Urban Rider,   http://www.rammount.com/part/RAM-B-347U

and one of these swivel arms:  RAM Short Double Socket Arm for B Size 1" Balls  http://www.rammount.com/part/RAM-B-201U-A

They also make a medium length and a long-length RAM Double Socket Arm for B Size 1" Balls, part #s RAM-B-201U and RAM-B-201U-C if you want the GPS closer to you, although it's more stress on the w/s with that lever arm.

I'm wondering how it might fit on an '09 SERG?

One like this might be better for the RG w/s angle:  RAM Double Socket Swivel Arm for 1" Balls (Overall Length: 6.25")  http://www.rammount.com/part/RAP-B-200-2U

Got it.  Thanks.  I've got a few different RAM swivel mounts in my spare parts box of different RAM mount crap.  Couple of different AMP plates as well.  Will be able to fiddle with at least a small number of different variations if needed.

Thanks again for sharing here.  Not 100% I'd immediately thought of using some of the small RAM mount ball adapters as extra intermediate pieces.  Could easily have been saying bad words for a few hours before that idea popped in.

If the best option on the Road Glide does end up being a windshield mount could easily see on the intermediate length RAM adapters being an easy solution to get the unit closer to the rider though.  More options is always a good thing.

YW.  Glad to return the favor.

Parts arrived to play with this last week and looked at it some today.  As suspected the Road King retrofit of the Convertible parts will be easy.  It's almost a no brainer install that I'm quite frankly surprised Harley has bundled parts together and sold to Road King riders at some egregious profit.

The Road Glide will be more interesting and problematic though.  As mentioned by the helpful member of the brethren above an easy solution could be to use the Convertible windshield mount with it's handy emblem to dress the outside.  Then rather than using the HD stock intermediate AMP mounting plate use an AMP ball mount plate with the attachment arm you need to length to get it where you'd like relative to your riding position.

That would likely work ok.  I'm not wild about it though.  Both from an aesthetic and a functional perspective that option bugs me a bit.  I think I'd prefer a more fixed mount to the top of the inner fairing.  This would get the parts closer to the rider and make the harness going through the inner as one with the part it goes through. This wouldn't be the same if mounted on the windshield and would make for disconnects and other secondary issues.  Got an idea there.  Just something will have to play with later.  To illustrate some of the things mentioned here the following pics will (hopefully) help.
