Bike stereo amps
« on: October 26, 2017, 01:08:11 PM »

Has any one used the Rockford Fosgate  TM400x2ad and the TM400x4ad? Both rated at around 533 total output. Finally doing my install next week with the Hybrid Audio Technology speakers.  I had the RF PBR300x4 and the PBR300x2 but decided to go ahead and put the new amps on the install.

I don't have any personal experience with them, but one of my riding buddies just swapped out 3 PBRs for the latest rockfords. His bikes is louder and cleaner than before and he's happy. My other riding buddy has HAT 6x9s and 7" components on his but he's running them on Arc Moto amp. I know that really doesn't help you much though now that I think about it, lol but both are great sounding bikes. It seems to me you made a solid choice.

That particular amp puts out about the same as the the HD Boom amp(s). It is rated at 80 watt rms  x 4 and 150 watt rms x 2. The boom amp is 150 watt rms x 2.

Depending on the Hybrids you are using they will take more than 150 watt rms.

When I look at amps one of the things I look for is no less than 200 watts rms per channel. I prefer a 4 channel bridged to get my 200 watt rms.

The two Fosgate TM400x4 & ad are small if using them as a 4 channel. As a two channel they will make some noise..... I did a quick search and I was not able to come up with usable specs on the amps. For improved sound they are a good choice as is the Cerwin Vega posted. For big power they are all on the small side unless run as a two channel amp.

Just my opinion.

Just found this
Product Highlights:

4-channel marine/powersports amplifier
100 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms (400 watts peak)
100 watts RMS x 4 at 2 ohms
200 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms (bridged)

I noticed you have your Stage II Boom from the 18 CVO for sale. What will you use to replace the system?

I'm no longer a brand name shopper. IMO most of that stuff is overpriced and under performs.

I initially wanted to try something different than what is in my 13 however that bike is loud and clear. So.. I will more than likely go with all PRV speakers again. For amps I'll use PRV or Taramp. Inexpensive parts that work better than advertised.

I have 5 Taramps in my 13 all bridged to put out 200 watt RMS to each speaker. I'm running four sets of speakers and two set of super tweeters. Each set of speakers has its own amp. This way if one goes out I don't loose the entire system like when running a multi channel amp. In the four year running this system I've lost one amp and have had a set of cables go bad.

Picture is before cleaning the wiring up. 5 amps, crossover, Front and rear air control valve. I don't think the 18 will hold all of that! Nothing in the bags, no loss of space.

Lol yes there is.

Last night I was thinking about what my amp of choice is going to be for the 18. I may try one larger amp to power all 6 speakers. In theory it should take up less room.
