FLHRSE3 Windshield
« on: March 04, 2007, 12:01:14 AM »

i think we all agree that the stock wind deflector is a pos. anyway i started using a standard road king screen, i've got a standard clearview recurve, tinted, the one on there now. i've got a 2" wider baileys, whiich is a good product. but for me i like the clearview but for a FLHR the recurve is in the line of sight for me. and i know it's slight but. so to complete my collection, i will be purchasing one clearview, standard grey tint.
maybe an oversized clearview too...  :huepfenlol2:

i see how the recurve is good for a deflector, one to replace the factory one......ought to see my sunglass collection... :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:

TN

Why not have them custom build you a recurve a little shorter and get it out of your line of sight, I think they only charge like $15 more for custom sizes.

I asked the same question just yesterday. Here's a link to the thread that Hoist posted with pics.

See post #24 on for pics.

I liek the new windscreen. It doesn't do much, but Ilike it anyway.

The only thing I don't like is that H-D doesn't seem to make a pouch for the new screen, bolts are too close together. It's only a matter of time.

Right, except the acorn nuts on the new 07 SERK would get in the way.

Ron, Ozz, TNFatboy, that's my bike and it is a new SERK. SERK's do not come with a windshield. They come with a windscreen. You need the 5-bolt windshield for the pouch. You can buy the frame hardware for it, part by part, and order the Lexan from Clearview. It was cheaper to buy the entire windshield assembly out of the HD acc'y. catalog and either use their Lexan or replace it with the Clearview, which is what I did. I started a thread about this very subject in this Section a few months ago. I also have a report with pics that Nige attached here. HD can keep that useless windscreen. If you want a proper windshield for long trips, get a new one! ;) Hoist! 8)

I will add, that you can also find used hardware, or complete units for pretty good prices on ebay if you are so inclined.  I bought two addition windshields this way.  One I kept stock, and one I replaced the lexan with a clearview shield.

Just one more alternative.

The wife really likes her Clearview 17" with the stock bracket. She likes the bag mounted low which the stock bracket placs it low. Just need to drill extra holes in the windshield bag. She had a medium height roadking windshoeld also that she tried. While coming to Daytona she said her glasses no longer move. It is due to the Clearview curved windshield. ;D

i require a full windshield to keep my mug from getting any uglier.... ;D..

Mine is a King-size HD windshield with Clearview light-smoked Lexan, shown, above. HD makes 4 sizes; low, mid-low (mine), standard, and tall. They are all 5-hole frames and accommodate the windshield bags. If you're gonna use the Clearview, buy the cheapest complete King-size windshield, or just find the windshield hardware for a it. Order the Clearview whatever size you want then. $30 extra for custom setup. That's it. Hoist! 8)
