Well I convinced my dealer to allow me to bring in my old one and get the new one and install it myself   (I hate to have anyone touch the bike but me!)
Anyway...    I was suprised to see that the one I took out of the bike was exactly the same as the new one.   The only difference physically was that the underside of the antenna was white (Had the Sirius label on it with their part number)  and the replacement antenna's underside was black.     Physically they were exactly the same size and shape.   I had read posts that say the updated antenna is larger?    I opened the box myself and the part was sealed in plastic and was the correct one with the 'A' suffix.
Only thing that I can figure was that Harley might have started using the newer designed antenna in the late production 2016's.
The sub assembly build dates on the stickers inside of the Fairing show components were assembled 06/14/2016 so the bike had to have been built on or after that.....
Who is your dealer,  AD? That was great they let you install it yourself, I'm the same way

I suggest changing out the small antennae for the larger home styled unit as pasted below. You will also require the connection conversion to connect to the radio. This style is much better and will allow you to keep under the fairing. Mine is arriving this week so will follow up with the results after installing. May need to relocate and likely remove the pivotable base using Velcro in place of magnetic mount.

Let us know how it goes.   I ultimately ended up relocating the antenna outside of the fairing on the top of the dash on the RT side just behind the windscreen.  Problem Solved.   Have had no more reception problems here in Ohio.

I have an 09 CVO Ultra and mine was absolutely terrible!  My buddy undid the screws on the fairing and without even taking it off, but just tilting it back, pulled the antenna and moved the wire into an upward channel and relocated my antenna between my windshield triple pouch.  Next trip from Ottawa to Laconia, through all the mountains of Vermont and New Hampshire...flawless!!

He already had done his and he drives a 2017 CVO SG...so he placed his just inside the anti-buffeting vent and he gets flawless reception now too!

Highly recommend to everyone I speak with and its a 10 min job with a single torx.
