Navigation System Overheats
« on: June 26, 2019, 06:38:29 PM »

Even in 80 degree weather, the GPS Nav loses its chit.  For example: shows distance to next turn is 300 yards when it's actually 50; no warning that a turn is coming up, so first thing said is "Now turn left;" other screw-ups that make it unusable.  Is this a defective unit?

A possibly separate item:  when distance to next turn is ~ 1000 yards, the area where this displays gets "highlighted" in a dark red color--making the distance unreadable.  In an unfamiliar city, I really like to know how far, especially with hidden or blocked street signs.  Any way to change the highlight color?

Do you have your screen set to the high contrast mode? I run into that also and have to switch back over to normal contrast to be able to see the distance to next turn.

Yes, it's in hi-contrast.  Always have run it that way; had no idea normal contrast would change it.  Thanks for the tip, I never would have considered that.

I am assuming you are not speaking of the new GTS system because I can't even get it to show me distance to the next turn!!!!  :-\

Use Waze with carplay. Works good.
