I think this is a great move for the uniform branch of the Secret Service. They are responsible for guarding the White House, Capitol, and performing other uniform duties. It used to be that motorcycle escorts were performed by local PD, DC Metro, LAPD when in LA, and so forth. Now they they have incorporated their own motorcycle escort team. Then there is the executive protection division, the body guards so to speak. Lastly there is the division that handles counterfeiting. Secret Service is part of Treasury. It came about after the US Civil War to combat all the fake bills that were being created. Later it expanded into presidential protection.

I bet that is one heck of a 2 week course...good for her and all those that take the course and pass.  As a civilian, it would be interesting to take that course, I'ma guessing...

There must be an image or presence factor in choosing Harley’s considering the availability of faster and better handling Japanese and Euro bikes. Maybe they don’t plan on high speed pursuits or have governing restrictions as many PD and State LE have.

The federal govt doesn't buy foreign vehicles.  The optics of the President being guarded by officers on BMWs would be awful.

Harley probably gave them the bikes under a sweet deal that includes buy back and service. The US government does buy import vehicles depending on the need and situation. In the mid 1990s I oversaw a the purchase of a small fleet of BMW RTs.

I used to see more female Motors at the Police Motor Comps on the West Coast, but hardly any the past couple of years. We do have a newish female in Sheriffs Motors here in Los Altos though.
