Is there any diagnosing a problem marrying the transmitter and receiver. Me thinks me got a dead one. Pinkie and I tried it this weekend. I sent Pinkie up the ladder in the garage, and I did the complicated part of flipping the beams. Nothing.

Today, I retrieved the receiver from the ceiling and tried it in hand next to the bike. The learning LED never stops flashing while I flip the lights l-h-l or h-l-h or l-h-l-h-l-h-l-h.....


Has anyone ever experienced a dead one?

Can think of two or three here that have had DOA xmitters or receivers.  Seems they ain't bullet proof.  Trouble is you don't know if the receiver ain't receivin or the xmitter ain't transmittin'.  Just for grins you might yank the fairing and make the cure the connections to the xmitter and that little jumper harness over to the headlight are actually plugged.  There was one instance I can remember here where someone had that problem too.

Well, that's exactly what I did yesterday afternoon. I had been fussing around with the headlamp and stuff and hoped I had something off. Nope. Everything's tight. The cig. lighter works, so it's getting juice. Stood there, flippin the lights up and down with the receiver in my hand, and nada.

I'm hoping I can just take the unit into the dealer, and not have to take the whole bike and wait for it. Much faster if they can just swap it out.

Tomorrow night we can see if your receiver will program off my bike.  That will at least isolate one from the other so you'll know which part is giving the problem.

That will be good. I just spoke with the SM here, and he's seeing what parts to the system they have in stock. I may be able to get it remedied tonight.

Problem solved. I'm embarrassed that I missed it, but the yellow wire coming from the headlamp had unseated in the Deutsch connector hooking to the transmitter. Put it back in and viola.

It works fine now.
