you can't have a nice top bag like they make for the King TourPac.

You can now, Steve!

No offense to anyone here that's doing this to their SEUC, but the thing that distinguishes it most from other Ultras IS the Leather TP, IMO.  I like the SEEG's and their relatively unadorned, removable TP, but one of the things that always turned me off with the "regular" Ultras was all the lights and stuff on the TP.  I just think the Leather is a lot cleaner looking.  I ride two up most of the time, and take trips on the bike, and we've not had any issues taking enough stuff.  In fact, loading the TP up with a lot of stuff makes the bike more unstable, IMO, so having a bit smaller one is a good thing.  The capacity is somewhere between the chopped and the king, if I'm not mistaken.

Terry,
I happen to agree with you about the leather tour pak. I happen to like it and think it adds a degree of uniqueness. I wish they had made it detachable just for sake of flexibility. The only thing I don't like about the set up is the growth under the tour pak known as the power amp! John

I know we never think about selling right????

But what did you just do to the value of the bike with it missing the leather tour pak?   :'(

Yep, walking down a row of bikes it's easy to spot the leather pod on the back of the SEUC.
Guess it's one of the "distinguishing" features of the bike.

Cheers,
Sooiee

I like the leather tour pak...if I had a wish though, is that it would have been at least the same size internally as the Ultra's fiberglass tour pak.  It definitely makes the CVO unique and recognizable in a group of other touring rigs and that's part of the reason I wanted a CVO, along with the bigger engine, all the bling, yada, yada, yada...... 8)

I know it's all about opinions. . . yada yada yada. But. . .  I'm going to agree with TC, Oto, sooiee & Red. I wanted an Ultra. This is my fourth! (second CVO) It is a distinguishing feature. Integral to the seat, flows (with a rounded shape) and doesn't look like an "add-on" or afterthought. I'd rather transform it to a detachable TP like others have done versus swapping it for a permanent painted version. Those are available on thousands of "every-day" dresser rolling off of dealer showroom floors daily. . . JMO.

golaith,
Nobody's dogging anyone about their choice in tour paks, sorry if you got that impression.  It's like anything else, not everybody likes everything everybody else likes.  I like the looks of the custom painted tour paks, but prefer staying with the leather pak...just a personal preferences...

When I first saw the leather tour pak on the '06 it did not do much for me but the more I saw it I began to identify it with the CVO version of the Ultra.  Now I realy like the look of it & think it adds a touch of uniqueness to the bike.  That being said, I think some of the painted ones I have seen on the site realy look fantastic but I would not change mine out.  I would agree that the detachable aspect is a huge plus.  Have not had any problem with packing even for week long trip.  After being used to the '04 Seeg without the tour pak anyone is a plus!

I agree with many of the posts here that it is a matter of preference & each of us has added various items to our bikes to "make them our own", I suspect that I have added some items to my bike that others would not like.  Bottom line it is all good!!  Lets ride.

At first, I didn't like the leather hump at all, but after a year, it's grown on me. Both versions look good, I just don't dislike it enough to spend a lot of money to change it, and if I did, I'm sure I would keep the hump. Then if I sold it, I would put the leather one back, and sell the fiberglass as an extra. I also really don't notice that it's any smaller. I know it is, just hasn't been an issue on trips.
