Boom Amp Inline Fuse Locations
« on: July 20, 2022, 09:35:07 PM »

Hi All, I have a 2015 CVO street glide with factory boom audio with 2 amplifiers.  One in the fairing and the other in the saddlebag. Now I know the GT head unit gets its power from the fuse block (20A) and is powered separately from the amplifiers.

Looking In the service manual it shows that both the front amplifier and the rear amplifier are provided power directly from the Battery with an inline 40A fuse. The front amp is referenced in the drawing as "43".  The rear amp is referenced as "43-b". And based on the schematic it shows the front and rear power supplies to each amplifier are separate from one another.

What I cannot find in the service manual is the location of these fuses.  I suspect they would be close to the Battery.  I also do not know if the fuses are "serviceable" or... are they one of those "Fuse links" that are designed to blow, and the fuse cannot be replaced.

If anyone has any information on these fuses, I'd appreciate any further info I can gather on them. Cannot seem to find any further info in the service manual other than being able to see them in the wiring diagram.

BTW: The reason I'm asking is I'm replacing both front and rear factory Amps with 2 Diamond Micro 8 Amps (one in the front and the other in the bag). The fuse requirement for the Diamond amps is 40A. So if I already have dedicated 40A power supply to both front and rear from the factory I do not see why I should run any new power supply lines.

Cheers!
