13" rear shocks on 2022 CVO SG?
« on: January 10, 2026, 08:49:15 AM »

Gentlemen of good taste, good morning.

I ride a 2022 CVO Street Glide. The blue steel one.
I ride moderately hard, and do a lot of slow speed exercises.
I ride alone, and weigh 80 kg (176 lbs). So with full gear thats what? 220 pounds?

I'm from Belgium, so not everything is available here.

First of all: what is the stock heigth of my OEM rear shocks? 12" or 13?
I think it's 12, but can't find a 100% confirmation...

I would like to install FOX QS3-QSR in 13" and STD spring. Starting from the idea the stock is 12":

Would that give an issue with the side stand?
Would that cause ANY issues with slow speed exercises? If it's the case, I will NOT do it ;-)
Would it cause instability on highway?

Anyone here did the same thing? So 2022 CVO SG to 13" rear shocks?

Thanks for your insights!

Hi,

I ride a CVO Street Glide 2021. First I went with Ohlins HD772 which was 13“ rear shocks. Last year I changed to HD779 (13“) both rear shocks were perfect length for my ride style.
The STX Pro in Blackline is available in two sizes: the classic 13” (HD 779) and a new 12” (HD 778)

I personally prefer 13“ rear shocks.

You will be just fine with the 13" shock.  Ultra's and limited come with 13" shock.  The frame was designed for the 13" shock.  The 12" was for a sportier llook for the street glide

I am the one that did the write up on the FOX shocks. I ride 2 up, and I am fairly heavy at 240 lbs.
Combined with my wife, tour pak and gear, I set my preload a little stiff. It did cause my bike
to lean over farther on the jiffy stand. You, riding single can adjust the preload down (sag it a little)
It will still give you more suspension travel without the firmness I have to run.
After the sag / preload is adjusted you will have 3 settings on the shocks themselves for
quickness of rebound. Adjust this according to personal preference.
I used Part # 897-27-302 / 13" QS3- QSR,RSD SS my 2022 CVO Roadglide.
