Headwork with 117??
« on: June 26, 2025, 09:34:19 PM »

2016 cvo street glide
It already has:
S&S camplate
S&S oil pump
S&S push rods
Zipper performance lifters
SE 117 bolt on with 259e cams

Do I need head work? What is best options? Zipper performance? Or suburban?  Do I need to change anything else if I get stage 2 heads? Or will all my parts just fit in with what I have? I am super dumb with engines I'm trying to learn.

Do a search for the 117...lots of great info on bikes already done. Basically, head work will help, but there are other cams that will produce better results for the money spent. All depending on the results you're looking for...

Sorry, didn't see your "before I build" post...

Another at least 1.5 points of compression will help a lot all throughout the rpm range. Then head porting work, assuming it is done correctly, will add an additional 7-10hp assuming new larger valves are installed. This build will require a custom flash tune by a qualified dyno facility.
