Screaming Eagle 110 Plates Yellowing
« on: June 25, 2007, 04:48:59 PM »

Noticed on my 2007 SEUC that the nameplates on the top side of the engine that says Screaming Eagle 110 are starting to turn yellow, the one in the rear is the worst.  Also noticed that there are different plates mounted on newer bikes.

Anybody else seen the yellowing problem?  Have a feeling it is due to heat issues.

Napalm,
High heat will cause the silver labels to turn yellowish...mine didn't turn color, but I replaced them anyway with the black ones.  The black and silver plates have raised lettering compared to just etched lettering.  Also, I was was told that you can't get the silver plates, as they have been discontinued and replaced by the black and silver ones.

i thing the badge turning yellow is a tell tell sign the head is too hot and you will blow a head gasket soon.  all joking aside, i'm sure there could be plenty of comments over that statement, lol

I have a black and orange ultra with 10,000 miles on it and mine still look new. I have added Rinehart exhaust air cleaner and a cam and my bike runs in Florida at 90 degrees and never gets over 230.

BDude, That sounds like my bike, Thundermax and redshift 575 cam, except I did hit 235 in traffic once.

Just about every 110 with the old plates that I see has this challenge.  It would drive me out of my mind worrying both about the discoloration, and the amount of heat being generated.  Talk about a thigh cooker.
