SEEG Dry Weight
« on: January 20, 2005, 01:20:25 AM »

According to my owner's manual and the HD Website, a FLHTCSE2 weighs 808 pounds dry.  The same HD Website says an Ultra weighs 788 pounds dry.  A SEEG2 is missing a good bit of the chrome guards found on an Ultra, not to mention the CB radio and rear speakers.  What makes the SEEG2 heavier?  Surely the 103 crank and flywheel doesn't weigh that much more than an 88.

Well, that's an interesting question, pushrod.  I can't answer definitively, but just to throw some things out, the SEEGs hydraulic clutch may be a factor, as could the high-torque starter and the mufflers and heat shields.  Those have got to be some of the heaviest mufflers on the planet, certainly heavier than the standard Ultra ones.

Is that enough to make up the difference, probably not.  Let's see what else is there.  The garage door opener?! [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

maybe its the amplifier built into out radios.....or the stainless lines......The cast wheels are probably heavier than spokes...who knows [smiley=nixweiss.gif], but it all adds up.

I beleive the billet rims are heavier than the cast! I think the ultra doesn't have the siren for the security system, oil cooler, braided lines, and all the custom SE covers,  it's only 20 lbs. were talkin' about.

I agree with O Fender... [smiley=beerchug.gif] 20 lbs. is not hard to add up [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] , Dave
