Just got back
« on: April 23, 2007, 12:00:52 PM »

Just got back off of a 1684 mile run to the north GA mtns. Had a blast but had to avoid some weather the 1st and second day Leaving out of FL. Overall the run was great, Made our way east from FWB to Dothan AL then up to Chattanooga TN, down into GA, to helen and Dahlonega. Back up to Hiawassee across to SC then down to Savannah GA. The only interstate we used was 95 down to St Augustine. We followed the Gulf of Mexico home to FWB. Left seen the sights and made if home in 6 days. No night riding. Usually started at 9-10 am and stopped around 7-8pm. Since it was the ladies first run with us. They did great.

The red jester ran great, only problems were the seat heaters were not working on the coldest day of the ride, but turned out to be a wire connection. The air shocks went out the first day of the ride. They would not hold pressure for nothing. I even used the HD air pump to fill them, so I would not blow the seals. The great folks at Timms HD of Anderson SC, said that Harley used the cheap plastic fittings so there was possibly air blowing by on of the fittings.

I did have the Jester dynoed in Dahlonega GA by Motocycos. They are the mechanics for Hawg Halters of GA. I'll post the sheet on the dynos page but the first pull was 88hp at 98 tq. Set up is roll ur own a/c, v/h silp ons and fuel pack.
Not bad number for an almost stock bike.  Second was 89hp and 99 tq.

I was rolling with a FLHX 95 Kit and a 06 SE ultra 103ci with $6 in cams, head work, tuning and exhaust. They still could  not pull away from me. We were all loaded down. I had my wife and 100+ lbs of gear on board.
We ran between 80-100 mph almost everywhere we went just to make up time. But the motor ran strong and solid.

I'll post some pics.

TNA-

Sounds like you had a blast. Our beaches are nice, but those mountains are sweet, aren't they ?

Great trip, I'm lucky enough to live in the area and enjoy the north georgia roads frequently.

Thanks for the heads up on the shocks .

To often all we hear about the CUSE2 are problems a few owners are having. I know most owners aren't having problems and I appreciate your post being positive and a tribute to the pasttime we all love. These are really great motorcycles and the people who ride them need to let us hear about the fun they have. Thanks

TNA,
I, too, just had work done by Neil and Brian at Motocycos......Daytona Twin Tec tuner, V&H true duals & slip-ons, Alloy Art stabilizer and few other add ons.  My dyno numbers for my 103 were similar to yours.  However I have had issues with back fires while down shifting and very rough idle.  Vibration is much greater as well.
I am taking it back up this weekend for a look see on the computer.
I am extremely pleased with the low end torque.  Need to get it just right before heading down your way to Thunder Beach.

BTW, for those in the Atlanta (or SE) area here is the Motocycos contact info:

706-864-0455
www.motocycos.com

Owner is Neil "Dr. Katz" Katz.  He is located in Dahlonega, Ga just north of Atlanta on Hwy 400.  He has a brand new and very well equipped shop directly behind the Hawghalters facility.

I just found out about them a few weeks ago when they installed Hawg Halters calipers for me.Neil aka Dr.Katz and Brian are definitely excellent wrenches and good people. If anyone in the atlanta area needs some work done they are the ones to go to.I was just there today having Brian dyno my ride. As a bonus I got to meet Warren aka flyingwilly. It was nice meeting you Warren.  :)
