2000 Roadglide alarm?
« on: July 16, 2007, 09:54:42 PM »

Did the 2000 roadglides have any factory installed alarms? If so how could I tell? The speedo has the key icon, which my wife's 01 RoadKing also has and she has an alarm on her bike. I recently purchased this bike and the previous owner had passed away. Not sure if his widow knew of everything that belong to the motorcycle. Only has 9400 miles on it. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

Nice ride Sleepe!!  :2vrolijk_21:

My 01 SERG came with an alarm which tells me that the system will accept one. Don't know if the 2000 had one installed or not. If the bike has one, the siren should be mounted under the right side cover, About the size of a deck of cards. You should have gotten key fobs to activate the alarm system also.
Last resort, check with your dealer.  ;)

Sleepe,

Did you get my email on your radio controls?  Push the button with you left thumb that you are using for volume and you'll find treble and bass adjustments.  On your alarm, if you have one, it might also be like mine where you hold down the key fob button and it chirps to indicate that its activitated and the little key blinks.  To turn it off, hit the key fob twice and the front blinkers will light once to tell you it's disabled.

Enjoy that sweet ride and hope to see you and Mrs. Sleepe soon,

If the SERG was the same as the other touring models in 2000 the addition of the alarm system is a bit more involved than it was in later years.  You'll need both the alarm hardware kit and an alarm installation kit.

The normal alarm kit is just what you'd expect (module, etc).  The installation kit is the harness assembly and a handfull of other bits.  Later years had the harness and other bits that were different made as part of the base harness and installed on the bike out of the box.  Adding the remainder of the alarm hardware is/was a simple task.  If the SE Road Glide is the same as the other touring models, however, you'll have the harness and other bits to install also.

The installation kit was 68314-01.  The alarm kit was 68200-00B.
