Well good news bad news, at times today the clutch worked pretty good and would let me into netrual easily other times not so I do not think its heat related. just feels like it does not always release the clutch all the way. will have to figure out if I can bleed the lines. (I got lots of tools but no smarts to use them).
On the good side had a great ride today 200 miles over three hundred bikes on the northern trip, good food and took back roads home solo. other than shifting bike ran great speeds 30 to 80 I may even learn to like 6th gear.
Next to figure out all the buttons on the Radio.

I experienced the same problem with my FLSTS.  I had a performance clutch that would only slip into N when the engine was switched off or when mobile and coming to a stop.  Even rocking backward and forward it was erratic.  As it was my first and only experience of a performance part, I thought it was normal and learned to live with it.  I've sisce realised that's not the case.

My advice for what it's worth - youv'e got a great bike, enjoy it.
Ride safe.

And get rid of the Syn3 if that's what you're using. Glad you had a nice ride.

Our 06 was really bad about the clutch not allowing us to find neutral when it was new.  The 07 wasn't anywhere near as bad.  The clutch plates all have high spots on them.  These take some time to seat/wear and then you'll find things will be just fine.  The 06 took about 2500 miles before it got to be in proper shape, the 07 only took about 1000.  Our dealer had a Fatboy that took almost 5000 miles before it got right.  They did everything in the book to it before they figured out what was going on.  Our 06 couldn't be moved if the bike was in gear and the motor off!  It will get lots better with a little time.  jmhenrie, you should be already starting to notice it's getting better- given the miles you've ridden.

That might be the case on some bikes and I'm glad that was the case with yours arctidude but my sefb has over 17k with no change in the annoyance of the clutch dragging. I wish there was some way to get this problem fixed in the warranty period but it appears to be a problem that surfaces quite often with not always the same fix. The bike is drivable but annoying that you have to remember to get in neutral before stopping or leave yourself room to roll it.

The sad part is: my custom vehicle options bike has the same guide lines and warranty procedures that any moco bike has, and I think that is sad with the cost of the bike verses the standard line.

The clutch on my FLSTS never eased up after 20K miles, I just got uses to it, in fact to be honest I didn't know the difference.

While this is my first post on your CVO forum, I'm not new to Harley.  I've been on other forums depending on the bike I had.

My '07CVO also had the same clutch problem.  The Dealer also told me it would wear-in.  This is how I solved it.  I started with a proper bleed, no luck.  I also had the problem on my CVO V-Rod, so I used that experience on this bike.  It may sound a little strange, but it works.  I increased the lever stroke, which cured about 75% of the dragging.  I pulled the clutch lever off and put a very small piece of brass flat stock (.018" thick) under the plastic housing that holds the lever roller in place.  It needs to be very small and sit only in the very bottom of the roller slot.  You can cut .018" with plain scissors.  Once in place it won't fall out, but just in case, I put a dab of red locktite under it and replaced the roller and plastic housing into the lever.

Second, I use Amsoil in the primary; it noticeably smooths clutch action without reducing clamping force.

Third, I use Redline "Shock Proof - Heavy" in the transmission; it quiets and smooths the tranny, it also just about eliminates the 5th gear whine.  With all three, the drive train works great!  Most of you probably already know about Amsoil and Redline.

My bike has only 1300 miles on it.  Perhaps the clutch will loosen up and perhaps it won't.  I can always remove the shim later, but in the meantime, I can shift easily.
