Race Tuner Question
« on: December 24, 2004, 10:28:14 AM »

Does anyone know enough about Computer CD duplication to know if the Race Tuner Software can be copied to a blank disc? And I would never think of doing this to loan to a buddy! Just want to know so I can keep the original in the house, safe and scratch free while using the copy at the shop. (wink, wink).
Someone is bound to know this.
Thanks

DW, I can't offer a definitive answer but here's what I've done.

I made a copy of my cd as soon as I got it and have been using the copy, keeping my original put away. You can give it to anyone you like but it only works with the hardware interface that came with it and the ECM number of the first ECM it is connected to is stored in the interface, not on the computer. Thereafter it will only work with the ECM that is on the first bike it was connected to.

Exactly correct RRSteve.  In addition, there's a little built in surprise for the recipient of the copy.  It zero's out the ECM of the "cheater" bike when the original ECM number appears as bogus on the new application.  Not nice to fool mother nature or the MoCo. [smiley=nervous.gif]

Here is the facts: the software can absolutely be copied and used with any ECU on any number of computers, it's the little black box they sell you, that can only be used for one (1) scooter. I have installed the software on three (3) different laptops and used one of those laptops to tune two (2) different scooters but you gotta have the black box for each scooter. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
