whats the trick to getting your tracks out of mapsource and into google earth?

Neal,

If you've got them currently loaded in the map you're viewing, just go to the 'View' pull-down and select view in Google Earth.  Make sure you've downloaded the latest version of MapSource.

i have 6.12.3 mapsource i did the view in google earth but nothing seems to transfer over
