Compression Check
« on: June 26, 2007, 09:52:37 AM »

Now that my bike is well broken in, I want to do a compression check and disable the compression releases. Where is the plug to do that?

Why? What would be the advantage? Aren't most people adding CR's?

I only want to disable them for doing a compression test. With them enabled, it's like having a leak. I want everything sealed off in order to get a good test.

It is wire #15 in your ECM plug - I believe it is purple...  Not sure about the color, but it is wire #15.  Release the wire by pushing the detent and fold it back and plug your ecm back in - your compression releases will be disabled.  Re insert the wire after your test and you are back in business.

Thanks Scot. Any chance of finding a plug near the intake manifold so I don't have to unwire the PC and associated pieces under the cover?

Unplug the  green wire at the starter solenoid and just power the starter up from there.

Done.

I posted on this subject about a week ago (compression check eye-opener).  The compression release plugs are behind the throttle body above the intake manifold.  A bit hard to get to though.

If you will, post your results with and without the releases.  Also, I acidentally posted this to to my other post, sorry.

It was your post that got me thinking that I had never run a compression check on the motor.

It will be interesting to see if others have the same high compression that I do.
