Boom audio rear speaker-connections for 2007 FLHTCUSE2
« on: March 15, 2012, 04:53:01 PM »

Hi,

Need some assistance in figuring out the rear speaker connections for the BOOM! AUDIO SPEAKER KIT to replalce the OEM speakers in the tourpak speaker pods.
The OEM speaker wiring to the pod has a small and a slightly larger spade connector whereas the remaining avaliable connectors after connecting the tweeter of the BOOM! AUDIO SPEAKER KITS to the speaker connector(one small and one larger connector) are 2 large connector. Hope this makes sense.
My question is, would changing the small connector to a larger connector cause any problems? Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers

Ed

Yes ... it will cause problems.
You may want to check your wiring ... It appears as though you have a "large" connector tied to a "small" connector.

My suggestion would be to pull ALL of your connections. Hook up the small connectors to the speakers FIRST. Doing this method prevents a "large" connector from being placed on a "small" speaker tab. Then hook up the large connectors to the speakers.

It can be confusing ... try this method and let me know if it helps

Thanks TIF2.
I have included pics of the OEM and Boom Audio connectors. With the Boom Audio speaker, the Tweeter wires appear to fit on the conectors on the right of the pic. Of the remaining 2 OEM speaker connectors only the larger of the 2 connectors will fit onto the remaining speaker connection, the remaining one being too small. Do I cut the smaller connector off and replace it with a larger connector and if so will that cause problems?
Both speakers have the same rating, the only difference being the Boom Audio speaker has a separate tweeter mounted to the speaker grill which connects separately to the speaker while the OEM has the tweeter integrated.
Cheers,

Hi TIF2

I followed your instructions and the speakers are working fine now.

Many thanks,

Yes thanks. The Boom Audio speakers have a more full sound over the OEM's.
