TMAX-AT vs HD Warranty
« on: August 05, 2007, 12:32:21 PM »

I have the extended warranty on my FLHRSE and I can see where if I have any of the problems that everyone else is having with the 110" and I have the TMAX-AT installed I can see where the Dealer would want to void my warranty. What are your thoughts on this issue.

Depends entirely on what failure you experience.  Under Federal law, warranty cannot be denied unless the modification or aftermarket part is the direct cause of the failure.  Of course, you may have to fight to get the dealer and the MoCo to comply.

My past conversations with a Warranty writer came up with the same senario about fighting to get it done under warranty.  Your best bet would be to "wine and dine" the dealer the best you can in getting all that H-D can give you.  If you do any changes, You are your own warranty.

Hey Man,
GRC said it a line full.
I was worried too, but there is no damn way a TMAT cause my Head Gasket to leak!!!
Dealer said bring it in and HD MoCo said replace them both front nad back.  If a Dealer gives
you a hard time, Head for one that will take care of you and value your business!

I recently had a head gasket replaced, rear cylinder, front and rear piston rings, all replaced under warranty in my 110 that has Zippers TMAX, Zippers Cam and Rineharts.  There was no issue at all regarding warranty, especially with a Harley known problem to boot.  Depends on the dealer, and the cause, certainly none of this had anything to do with a failure.
