2006 FLHTCUSE Transmission Leaks
« on: August 11, 2007, 06:41:16 PM »

Thought some of you would like to know of a recent transmission leak I had on my 2006 FLHTCUSE with only 13K miles on it. Problem was corrected by Hollingsworth Harley-Davidsion in St. Augustine, FL (who are the best and one of the older shops that still remember how to provide service) under warrenty thankfully. Thought I would share.

How did this leak present itself?

That crack will do it.  Any idea how fifth cracked?  I don'y think it came that way, since it would have surfaced prior to 13K.  Thanks for sharing.

Not sure how it cracked. Al the head mechanic said he has only seen this happen one other time. I enjoy the power and speed of bike but I certainly don't get on it enough to do that damage. The leak presented it self at the belt sprocket area by the transmission and mostly while it was on the kickstand. Noticed it after a particually hot flordia day.

Thanks!!   Just wanted to know where the evidence first showed up.  More than likely, you were just unfortunate enough to get a bad part and it will likely never happen again.  First I've heard of it.

Had a leak similar to your's at 21K on my 02 Ultra.  Gears were fine.  Seal just gave up the ghost.  There was a puddle of red Bel-Ray 85W140 under my bike the next morning after Renea and I had been out riding the day prior.  Appleton's HD fixed it under the Extended Service Plan I had at the time.  Good thing too.  no telling how much that would have cost.  Had I been THINKING, I'd have bought a chrome inner and had them replace it then and gotten the labor for free.  Hindsight is always better than 20/20.
