Here's the latest on NHRA Pro Stock in the year of the V-Twin! S&S seems pretty happy about their year. Hoist!

LA CROSSE, WI (August 17, 2007) S&S Cycle, Inc. announces the S&S Pro Stock powered bikes in the NHRA Pro Stock Class are looking strong going into the last six races of the year.
With six S&S powered Pro Stock bikes in the top 15, the action in NHRA Pro Stock is all about v-twin excitement. Three spots in the Countdown to Four are already locked up, with Matt Smith on the Torco Racing Fuels S&S Powered Buell in spot number one. Andrew Hines is number two and Angelle Sampey is number three. Right now, Both Chip Ellis on the G2 Drag Specialties/S&S powered Buell and Peggy Llewellyn on the Karl Klement S&S powered Buell are in great position to lock up spot number four.
On July 15th, 2008 in Denver, Colorado, Matt was fast and stayed that way, ultimately winning the round and building on his championship leading points. Denver is always a tough track since it sits at about 5800 feet in elevation, giving true meaning to the name Mile High City. Thin air and heat can make speed a challenge, but Smith won the event in the final round with a 7.400 at 177.81mph.
Sonoma, California is always a fast track and Smith was there to protect his points lead. All of the S&S powered bikes ran well, Peggy Llewellyn saw a 6.997 at 187.50 mph on Friday and Chip Ellis saw 6.986 at 189.20 that day. Saturday saw more speed as Smith posted a 6.995 at 189.97 mph and Ellis saw 6.952 at 190.81mph.
Sunday was the big day where in the finals it was Matt Smith on his S&S powered Buell against Eddie Kraweic on his Harley-Davidson. A classic battle of the v-twins saw Smith running away from the H-D at 6.992 and 189.10mph.
"Sometimes you get lucky and this was our day to be lucky",said Matt Smith of his Torco Racing Fuels S&S Buell team. "We were fast, but we are not always the fastest, but when it is your day, it is your day. I went into the race as I always do, looking to have fun and that helps me ride the best I can".
Sunday August 11th, 2008 saw Chip Ellis step up to the line in Brainerd, MN and set a new track record with a 6.963 at 190.30mph, the fastest run of the weekend. Saturday, Ellis on the G2 Drag Specialties/ S&S powered Buell, went 6.990 at 191.32mph, to be the first into the sixes for the weekend.
"Seeing so many of the S&S 160ci Billet Pro Stock-powered bikes in the top half of the field is exciting" said S&S Race Manager Charlie Hadayia. "It seems this is the year that the S&S-powered bikes are really coming into their own and giving the fans something to cheer for," concluded Hadayia.
Smith currently holds a 181-point lead over Andrew Hines and is 198 points ahead of Angelle Sampey heading into Toyo Tires Nationals in Reading, Pennsylvania this weekend.
