'05 Fatboy fallaway --pinch bolts
« on: August 15, 2007, 11:23:24 AM »

Tried to adjust the fallaway on my '05 Fatboy as per factory manual . Loostened pinch bolts til very loose. Turned the adjuster nut inward and then checked the fallaway. Turned the bolr counterclockwise (to loosten the torque on the bearings ) and the bolt turned very easily with no resistance. How do I know whether the pinch bolt bracket is loose enough as to allow the fork tubes to be free moving?

Thanks,

John

If the pinch bolts are loose, they should be ok, they won't move much, you could spray a little lubricant on the fork tubes above the clamps if your concerned. Try tightening up the adjustment bold a little at a time and see if you get more resistance, if so just follow the settings for fall away on your bike.
