Help please ! I've mounted my TM/AT : problem....
« on: September 01, 2007, 04:25:39 AM »

Good morning All,

I've mounted my TM/AT and downloaded the firmware and MAP.
During the warmup at idle to the normal operating temperature, my rear O2 sensor guauge (Rear AFR) is up to 19.36 and stay here.

What's the problem ?
Is it possible to ride ?

I think my O2 sensor is out.

Thanks for your help.

Jacques

Jacques, the following is a post from another thread.  If you want to try to find a sensor somewhere locally it should help.

Should anyone with a T-Max and Autotune combination be looking for one of these take note of the following:

VW part number is 021-906-262-B

Application information is:

Audi
TT FWD 2000-02

Volkswagen
Golf 1.8T, VR6 1999-04
Jetta 1.8T, VR6 1999-04
Jetta Wagon 1.8T, VR6 2001-04

The prices can vary wildly.  The Bosch part number I just found at O'Reilly's for as much as $200.00, Autozone for $130-something and a few others in between.  The VW part number in North America is sometimes also as expensive but some places much much cheaper.  Was only screwing around looking for 5 or 10 minutes but this place online offers the same piece for $50.00:

http://www.pap-parts.com/prodinfo.asp?number=021%20906%20262%20B

And here was another for only $38.00.  If one were really concerned about failure that's cheap enough to carry a spare since none of the local parts stores actually kept one in stock.

Jacques, did you try switching the sensor to the other cylinder pipe? If it's bad, it'll read bad there too. If not, it's something else. ;)

Thanks for these informations.
I sended a mail to Zippers and wait the reply.
I hope that it's OK for the warranty.
It's the first installation when I started the setup, it was OK ( attached file AFR 124°F) but at 260° AFR was 19.36 and stay at this value.

Thanks again for the references.

It's a good proposal but I need to dismount my rear pipe.
I've read my Diagnostic Trouble Codes and my EGO rear (Historic) is **error** . only this error on the Diagnostic table.
I know not what it's means.
I sended a mail to Zippers and wait the reply.

Thanks for your help

I noticed in picture, that while motor was running, you were also trying to update the program at the same time. Not a good idea to have the program search while running and monitoring.  The 19.36 means sensor is operatiing, but only does this when motor is off to show a good sensor.  Please check connection downstream of sensor, and also make sure no internet while monitoring. Thanks,
Rhino

Thanks for your help Rhino,

It was not an update for the program, it's the window for the monitoring.
I disconnected my connection to internet.
This morning, I've checked the downstream connection of the sensor. Nothing.
I've made a monitoring at iddle and I've seen that the sensor run not always.
It has a random operation.
When it run, all is OK.

Hello again Jaques,

I have not seen an intermittent sensor, I admit.  The reason I say this is becasue 'sensor' show 19.36. Means sensor is OK. What I meant was, after sensor return to  ECM, there are the 2 harness, one to front and one to rear, it seems that sensor front and rear connection ok.

I think it is the pin that is after sensor, the one that connect to data, and the one that connect to LARGE connector.  Make sure that these are actually tight and snap to locks.  Disocnnect both, with switch off, and check to see if loose pin.  You know what these are?

The reason I suspect this is becasue you say intermittent, I think it is the plug connectors, not the sensor side. If TMAX seenses 19.36, it will try major corrction to add a lot of fuel.  or, TMAT will see error, and on the module page, will turn off autotune (closed loop). Make sure autotune box is selected on, on the MAP setting side, and when linked, on the MODULE side.  To verify, when connected and moto not running, CLOSED LOOP SETTINGS shold be the same on MAP (computer laptop side) and the MODULE itself.  Also make sure no override is selected.

I would also re load the MAP to the MODULE, with no interuption, no internet connection, but, like I said, seems to be, if NOT a harness, it could be a wire. See if you can move a wire to make it change.
If you have some dielectric grease use a toothpik to apply a very very small amount.   Or do same with WD-40. Hope this helps.. Please keep me advised, since I do like to see every fix to make sure it is not the ECM, sensor or TMAX itself.

Ron, Thank you very much  :2vrolijk_21:

I agreed with you, my O² sensor ran.

So I've checked and clean the pins with similar product of WD-40 on the large connector, data connector and sensor connector.
I've checked the parameters for CLOOSE LOOP SETTINGS ( Module / MAP) all were perfect.

I started my bike and monitoring till 300°F and the rear O² sensor run perfectly.

It was a problem of false contact in the electrical connections.

Thanks again  :beerchug:

Hi Jacques
I fitted my TMAT and Supertrapp mufflers 3 weeks ago and it went perfectly. I asked zippers which map to use and he gave me the map but also this message..

Consider an inexpensive device that we provide which blocks the influx
of fresh air to the rear O2 sensor when free flowing slip-ons are installed
with factory head pipes. This simple restrictor fits inside of the crossover
section of the head pipe and prevents skewing of the rear sensor which
results in a false "lean" reading causing it to demand more fuel. This will
help reduce the Decel Popping as well.

Thanks,

Randy Dull

Thanks Rod for this information.
I know not it.

In my case, I've dressers duals V&H (not crossover) with Oval slip-ons V&H.
I use the MAP # 364 because I've SE 251 cams.
Adam from Zippers advise me this MAP because the SE 251 cams are similar to the Redshift TC 575.

Regularly, I'll monitor my rear O² sensor.

Best regards
Jacques
