which exhaust gastets to use on Rhineharts True duals
« on: September 04, 2007, 01:27:55 PM »

Hello, would anyone know the HD part number for exhaust gaskets on a 2004 FLHTCSE with Rhinehart True Duals?
I thought there was a post that listed the part number but was unable to find the post.

Thanks!

With a new set of Rineharts, you get a set of gaskets. If you don't have those, I would use the EVO style of gaskets, flat, rather than the cone shaped ones that come stock on the Twin Cam engines.

Just installed a set on my "06 Haze, I used the Reinhart gaskets that came with it. They looked liked the  "thin "Screamin Eagle exhaust gaskets, vs the stock thick gaskets. mine sealed right up no problem. Greg

These are difficult gaskets to work with. They are just rings and must be centered perfectly. The standard HD tapered gasket should be used for most applications, unless you have a performance build and can not afford to lose any of the exhaust port opening whatsoever. Othewise the standard HD tapered gaskets are fine.

The SE gaskets are just like the RH gaskets and IMO, just be used with the RH's to avoid potential fitment problems.  They self center when installed into the exhaust port properly.  When you tighten things up, just do so evenly and they will seal without problems.

Hmmmmm.  OK then.  I thought they were rather simple to work with, but I'll take your word for it, Howie.  The gentleman asked for a P/N.  The P/N I provided is the one called for by the machine in question, based on what the MOCO makes available to us online.......although I'm certain a stock, beveled crush gasket will work, it is not the one called for online.

That's been my experience with this P/N.  Never have had a problem with them.  If memory serves, no more than 40 in/lbs TQ on the flange nuts.

You can buy replacement exhaust gaskets directly from BUBS.  The part number for the gaskets is 20-00003 with a price of $4.95 for the pair.  You can call Jennifer in sales at 530-477-7490 x208.

I got ya Henry. When I used the SE gasket with the Fatcats, we had a helluva time keeping them centered. We used a racing Alum/Asbestos gaskets instead, that we shaped for the HD exhaust port. These proved to work best. The beveled HD standard gasket does reduce port size and is not recommended in performance builds.
