FXR4 Not charging
« on: March 25, 2010, 09:56:36 PM »

What type (if Any) voltage is my FXR4 to produce at idle ? I have 12.6V battery voltage with engine off and 12.6V with the engine running.I removed the plug at the stator and checked the stator for ground and were good there. Are there any checks/tests that I can perform on the regulator to see if it is operating correctly ? Any suggestions to check anything else ?
Thanks Guys

Hi,
The alternator should output about 22-24 vac at about 2,000 rpm. This is measured at the alternator with the voltage regulator disconnected. With it all plugged back together you should get about 14 vdc across the battery from the regulator.at 2,000 rpm. How old is your battery? Not all batteries are created equal. Normal is 12.8 vdc. Make sure that all the terminals are clean. Hope this helps.
Thanks,
