Torque Values for SE Air Cleaner Kit Install
« on: October 01, 2007, 08:27:32 PM »

Hi Fellow FLHTCUSE Owners!

Does anyone have the torqure specs for the three 1/4-20 studs that hold the backplate on and also the three screws that hold the filter in place. I got rid of the Harley paper element in favor of the K&N HD#800, but lost the install sheet for the SE High Flow Kit. I believe the torque values called for 55-60 in.-lbs. for both but can't trust my memory anymore. LOL

Thanks,

Great question.  I'd like to know the answer too.  I "think" I torqued mine to 90 in/lb.  Possible overtorque, since I guessed based on the popularity of the 80-120 in/lb torque value.

good info GRC.  Duly noted that it's 'IN' pounds and NOT 'FT' pounds.  That's come up on this site before.....

Yep.  I overtorqued.  Won't happen again.  Good thing I got new stuff.
