SE08RK has it right. Bad gas and too rich. Those are carbon deposits. Run EXON -CHEVRON premium gas and lean out your AF. When you want to check plugs,run normal for awhile ,then pull in the clutch and kill the motor. NO IDLE ! detonation and pre-ingition will have tiny little specs on the ground strap. white or purple

Had a similar experience with my Road King, couple thousand miles on it and the rear plug was carboned up. Found the gap, from the factory, was well below the spec. New plugs properly gaped and never had a problem after that.......
