Anybody using Stinger seat?
« on: March 09, 2005, 06:50:29 PM »

Form vs function.  I ride solo, looking for a seat that keeps the slammed look of the SEEG but is comfortable for day trips.....So spent Daytona looking at seats....only Corbin makes one specifically made for the SEEG and it definitely matches up the best with the console vs Mustang, etc.  Looking at the Corbins, narrowed it down to the Stinger (looks the best) vs the Classic Solo (felt good, 1" wider than Stinger but lotsa naked fender out there).  My question is, has anybody put any real miles on a Stinger and what was your impression?  I am willing to sacrifice a little comfort to keep the look of the bike...no Road Sofa's here but I don't want a rag on a rigid either.  A solo seat may turn out to be the best compromise but I gotta ask about this Stinger....

I've got about 8000 on the Stinger on my '04 SEEG.  Great seat.  Last weekend I did about 650 miles. In my opinion, it rides as well as my Corbin Dual touring.  As far is single seat, slammed look....don't think there's anything close to it.

Thanks, MFG.

Looks like I'll be giving that Stinger a try.  Can't be any worse than the stock setup with that POS $289 Erector Set, Kidney Punch Edition SE backrest. [smiley=brood.gif]

Suweet.
Ordered it with the black leather and black snakeskin (greyish vinyl really) trim on the sides...kinda like the one on the Corbin site but no gator...got enuff gators around here without sitting on one too....actually I hear the skins (ostrich, gator, etc.) don't wear well if sat on (lose their bumps) but on the sides, I'm hoping it should be OK and look pretty trick.

Corbin seats are awesome, I have used them for years.  I recently had this one custom made for my 04 RK Custom:

I had a Mustang solo on it & never really liked it, this one is great.

One thing for anybody who is buying one & has never owned one before, Corbin seats are very hard at first & need extensive break-in.  I had a Corbin on an 01 Heritage & it took 3500 miles before I was truly happy with it.  After that however, it was the best seat I ever owned.

I see Corbin seats for sale all the time where someone rode on it three times & dumped it.  Unless you are going to take the time to give it a proper break-in, you might want a softer seat like a Mustang.
