With a little help from the OSHA violator, I was able to find the "Elbow Grease" thread. Yeah baby!!! Money saved is a good thing! I love this place!

See, now you know why I wanted to get this done ASAP! Had I waited 'til Hotelanta, she would have talked me out of it. Now you can tell her you have to get it done because I did it  ;D!  What are friends for?

Just got home from having the IDS installed. It is a big change. It is going to take time for me to get used to. No more vibration. You now need to look at the tach. It has to be better for the bike. It will be real nice on a long ride. It is just funny after riding Harleys for 20 years, all the vibration is gone. My first thought was, what have I done? It is getting more and more like a "other" brand. The price was right. 20% off on the part and $100 off on the install, it only cost me $35 labor.

For anyone considering the IDS install, on my 08 it is GREAT.  Smooth transitions between gears and while riding in the near idle zones where the primary chain used to really jerk back and forth on previous models.  I also think this will help give the motor a bit more strain relief from the two cylinder power surges that may be a factor in why some of the motors are coming apart in various ways.  Good move, MoCo!

I've got about 1400 miles on my IDS , while the improvement is subtle , it is definetly worth it.

The deal is called Elbow Grease and is a $100 labor credit , it is also offered on other items , most of which don't effect CVO's (chrome front end, braided lines, 103 upg)

Besides the advantage of being to ride clatter free at lower rpms , the power transfer is much smoother , it feels quicker as well.  I've noticed while fuel mileage slipped, it is now very consistent no matter how I ride .  (40mpg) I'll be taking her in for the 5K service next week and get round 2 of SERT done , we'll see if the mpg inproves any.

Harley, if you're listening (or care) you ought to release a version of this for pre-07 models.

I agree with twolanerider. My friends that ride pre-07 models would like the same mod, all they need to do is make the same part a little wider for the wider belt. I am sure the MoCo would just prefer they bought a new bike. You can tell, the whole bike is just "happier" with the IDS and I bet will have less problems.  Anyway, I am happy they made it for my 07. Question:

Can the Chrome Sprocket Cover and Chrome Bolts be used over the IDS Sprocket? :confused5:

In short, No. the outer part, sprocket is not bolted on. Only the innerportion is bolted to the wheel. Additionally, the shapes of the sprocket and the IDS dish are totally different.

Wow, is there anything to cover it? I have them nice Chrome Roadwinder Wheels, the Roadwinder Chrome Floating Rotor, and the Chrome Sprocket Cover and Bolts on now. I just picked up that IDS, as it's recommended to help from the drivetrain from tearing itself up. But man, that thing is ugly as sin! :nixweiss:
