2005 SEEG Aux switch
« on: November 06, 2007, 10:28:49 PM »

Could someone tell me if the Aux switch on the dash is used for anything from the factory?
If it is hooked up where would i find the wires from it, i want to hook up my led lights to it if it is not in use.

Thanks

From the factory it controls no hardware.  It switches one of the four wires in a four leg connector you can find in that hole in front of the battery.  There is also a ground in those four.  So you can work from there and make anything you'd wish to add switchable via the dash switch.

Also, Harley offers a Y adaptor you can plug in to that accessory plug.  It's part number 70264-94A.  It would either allow to use that plug without using it up for other purposes or give you a fully assembled Deutsch connector to plug in to from which you could snip off the other end to make the connections you need to whatever accessory you are adding.

Thank You

I used the y adapter when i installed the spoilers on the tour pak and saddle bags. I thought the Aux wire was in this mess somewhere, now i know
where it is thanks for the info, i guess it has been to long since i have messed with it.
Had LED's installed this past weekend and they put the switch right in the middle of a big hunk of chrome, that will never do. Trying to keep up with Gary.

You've got it isolated already then Ernie.  Your spoilers use the brake and t/s wires from that four wire plug; and the ground of course.  The aux wire is the "other" one.

With a multi-meter or a test light you can easily figure out which lead goes hot and cold when you flip the aux switch.

So....  what fancy doo-dad LEDs are you going to run off this baby anyway?

In installed the spoilers as well as the Wig Wag unit after I had wired my GPS into the Accessory plug.  I used the splitter and wired one side for the GPS (Switch power) and the ground.  As you noted the other pins support #1: Non Switched power (when you turn on the ignition you have power) and #2: the Brake lite (activate the brake and you power the spoilers or other brake activated addition).  When I added the spoiler, I just wired the unused "Y" segment for the break circuit.  The addition of the Wig Wag unit is another story.

I like the switched power so the when the GPS is removed the power shoe can't short out (I have a Garmin 2610 and the shoe is open unless you place the plastic cover on it).
