Sometimes I check in and have 7 or so pages of unread posts.  I'll read a couple posts, log off, come back a few minutes later check unread posts again and it's 1 or 2 pages.  This happens to me all the time.  Where did the several pages of unread posts go?  Does anyone else see this?

you looking at unread since last visit. if you dont log off that wont happen

If I don't read them why do they revert to read when I log off?

More then likely there is a cookie being placed in your browser w/a timestamp of the time you were here. That link says "Show unread posts since last visit" which would look at that cookie to see what time you were last on and start from that time. Doesn't matter if you've read the posts or not it is going by the time of your last visit.

The same thinng happens to me all the time, but not consistently. On Monday I logged in after being out of town. 17 pages. I read a few threads and closed the browser. When I opened it up a few minutes later, I only had a couple of posts listed. I don't log out and have set the preference to stay logged on at all times.

That setting is only so you don't have to reenter you password when you come back to the site. The software itself will "release" (not show you as being here) after a certain period of inactivity. I usually read posts by the "Most Recent..." and when I leave computer I just leave the browser open. When I return I look at the last post time on the "Most Recent.." page then I'll hit refresh and go back some pages until I find that time then catch up on my reading.

I don't log off or close the Site, if I have a lot of Unread Posts. Once you close it, you lose them. You'll be logged off the Site depending on the Setting you chose. When you come back on, just hit the Unread Posts again, and you'll have them all, up to date. This won't work for Dial-up users, I guess.

I just don't think that's so. I'll do a little test. I'll post this and then close the browser and even reboot the computer. Right now, the last one in the list is

OK, I'm back now. I closed all browsers and then rebooted the laptop. It's 11:12 AM.

I still see the list of the same unreads, plus more. The last one in the list is still

The time of the post is 10:11 and I logged of at 11:07.

This is working as I think it should. I don't understand why sometimes I lose the posts and other times they remain.
