Handlebar Risers - Anyone??
« on: January 07, 2008, 10:56:50 PM »

Has anyone fitted (or know what will fit) handlebar risers for the FLHRSE4? I'm getting serious back ache and making my chiropractor rich! I've changed the seat, fitted highway pegs, tried the backrest in a number of different positions (including off completely) and I can't ride for more than one hour with getting very sore.

I love this bike but there's something about the riding position.

PLEASE HELP!!!  :-\

Dude, change the handlebars. Don't need to add risers.

I favor Flanders bars and they make a "Road Glide" bar that's narrower than most bars designed for Road Kings and it has a ton of pullback. Flanders also offers FLT bars with a lot of extra pullback and rise. Many on this board are big on Wild One bars.

Since changing bars is not easy, I suggest (if your shop will cooperate) that you have them order 2 or 3 bars so you can sit and try them. Obviously not the same as riding with each bar, but better than guessing.

With the right combination of height (rise) and pullback, you'll feel a whole lot better. Of course, you will most certainly need new throttle cables and clutch cables.

Quint, I have WO518 handlebars being put on. You have to change the risers anyway since SERK3/4 have 1 1/4" and most aftermarket bars taper to the standard 1" at the risers anyway. When I get it out of the shop, I will post some pictures.

Thanks Michael & Kojak

I got in touch with Wild 1 yesterday, and they now make their bars to accept the electronic throttle to bolt right in - no cutting with the dremel tool. They also have a $50 adapter that allows the stock SE risers to work with the 1" taper, so the new bars will bolt on - no muss, no fuss. Kojak, I sure would like to hear about your experiences with the Chubby's when you have 'em fitted, and maybe see a pic or two.
