Slick 50/ prolong /Z max etc.....
« on: April 09, 2005, 02:44:01 AM »

I've used prolong in my automobiles and noticed a diference in performance  AND wear and tear..What is your opinion on using these additives in a  V-twin? could it destroy the motor? or like the commercial states; drain the oil and run it ..... [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Hey Cannibus.....just because they sell Prolong in the truck stop restrooms doesn't mean you should put it in your engine.

welp i didn't go to the truck stop but i went to the website  http://www.prolong.com/Main.aspx    they don't mention anything about  motorcycles
but it does say  it can be added to any gasoline engine including rotary engines.
ya know there is alot of discussion on wear and tear  in these threads..I would imagine thats why i was askin if anyone has ever thought to use a super lubricant   [smiley=blank.gif]

hey Cann. I would be very careful what you put in a v-twin...ignore what the makers say, contact your dealer and ask them. If it causes problems, H-D may not warranty it. reminds me of the STP ads. That stuff was lethal in m/c engines that have roller bearings. If you gotta use something go for Syn3..good stuff. IMHO

thnx J.Rudd and Tonys,

Actually i wasn't ready to pour an additive in just yet,
prolong is a engine treatment not an oil treatment.. seems to me it might be a
additive worth using tho,,I can't complain about  the cars i've put it in    [smiley=cool3.gif]
