The inaccuracy and problems I read about the dipstick are exactly why I did this type of install. I used the following for the mount.

So Yes it is in a pod that hides everything. There is a hole in the back to route the wiring out of. The gauge is 2" in diameter if I remember right those pressure gauges are smaller than that. Oh yeah here is the gauge that I bought http://www.wallyscycleworld.com/virtualshop/vsquery_new.asp?PVMID=88&PVSID=3013 the sending unit plugs into the oil sump right next to the drain plug. Let me know if you were looking for more detail. I am thinking of mounting a volt meter on the other side to balance the look

Nice clean install....wouldn't hurt the look to have the voltmeter on the left to balance it out, and it's actually a relatively functional piece...it alerted me to an immenant regulator failure, before the idiot light ever thought about coming on.  I could watch the voltage fluctuate.

Thanks! I am not quite sure how I would wire it - directly to the battery I guess. I am using a wire that is off the harness that is switched to the ignition that was in the battery area not being used that I understand has a 40 amp fuse. I am running some lights and powered speakers from it. I was wondering if I can wire the volt meter to it?? I also have discovered heated clothing. So a volt meter that tells me I am using more power than I am putting out from the charging system would be good 8)
